Generation Y

Have you ever heard of this generation? Generation Y? Well you should start worrying by now if you never heard of it before this. And maybe you might want to do some research on Generation Y. Its our generation, youngsters! Below are some of the characteristics (which I googled and copy directly from the web) :-

Tech-Savvy: Generation Y grew up with technology and rely on it to perform their jobs better. Armed with BlackBerrys, laptops, cellphones and other gadgets, Generation Y is plugged-in 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This generation prefers to communicate through e-mail and text messaging rather than face-to-face contact and prefers webinars and online technology to traditional lecture-based presentation.

Family-Centric: The fast-track has lost much of its appeal for Generation Y who is willing to trade high pay for fewer billable hours, flexible schedules and a better work/life. While older generation may view this attitude as narcissistic or lacking commitment, discipline and drive, Generation Y legal professionals have a different version of workplace expectations and prioritize family over work.

Achievement-Oriented: Nurtured and pampered by parents who did not want to make the mistakes of the previous generation, Generation Y is confident, ambitious and achievement-oriented. They have high expectations on the employers, seek out new challenges and are not afraid to question authority. Generation Y wants meaningful work and a solid learning curve.

Team-Oriented: As a children, Generation Y participated in team sports, play groups and other group activities. They value teamwork and seek the input and affirmation of others. Part of a no-person-left-behind generation, Generation Y is loyal, committed and wants to be included and involved.

Now are those characteristics describe us best? I bet they are. To add on that, my Finance lecturer did some lectures on this, too. So basically, us Generation Y has become nocturnal. We sleep in the morning and stay awaken at the night. Up to 4-5 am. (this is so me). The body system can't really respond to the surrounding because it has no connectivity with the surrounding. Due to that, our brain system will have a distinctive system where you will easily get tired. As a result to that, we easily lose our temper and become a very aggressive generation. Can you see the logic here? And because of that TOO, many people started to choose death as a way to end the problems. We tend to be very depressive with any little problems. We can't handle the pressure, they say.

Are you scared of this? Because I am. Can you imagine life 10-20 years from now? Thiz iz seriouz ma man
